November Golf Trail Tip of the Month

Drew Geritz, head golf pro at Redfield Golf Club in Eugene offers this helpful tip on how to make sure you’re hitting your shots straight and consistently.

“One of the most important keys to hit consistent, straight shots is hitting the center of the club face.

Impact location is key in hitting the ball the same consistent distance and straighter shots.

A quick and easy way to find out where you are hitting the ball on the face is to purchase a can of Dr. Scholls foot spray.

Before you hit a driver, spray the club face.

When you hit the ball it will show you exactly where you hit it.

From there you can make adjustments to find out how to hit the center of the face more often and more consistently.

This is a cheap way to find out. A can costs about $4 and lasts a long time. It also wipes off the club face extremely clean and leaves no residue.”

October Golf Trail Tip of the Month: The Golf Club at Deer Chase

Spencer Wilson (pictured right), general manager and head golf pro at The Golf Club at Deer Chase, provides this tip for playing the 17th hole, one of the most challenging on his course:

“The 17th hole at Deer Chase is a 440-yard Par 4 that requires precision with every shot, all the way from the tee to the green.
Standing on the tee box, you’re faced with an out-of-bounds no more than five yards right of the ideal landing area for your tee shot.
To make things even more difficult, the fairway slopes severely from right to left, forcing golfers to cut the ball towards the aforementioned out-of-bounds stakes to hold to the fairway.
If you’re lucky enough to find the short grass, you now face an uphill approach shot to a two-tiered green, but like the approach shot, missing left is not an option.
If you fail to get the ball on the proper tier, three putting is a real possibility. Walking away with a four on this hole will feel like a birdie. But, if you’re accurate, or lucky, you can make par and feel proud that you conquered this tough hole.”
Put this tip to the test and book at tee time at Deer Chase today!

“Fall” in Love with Autumn along the Lake of the Ozarks Golf Trail

Autumn is officially here and with it comes cooler temperatures and beautiful fall colors. Many golfers find fall to be the perfect season to play any of the Lake of the Ozarks Golf Trail‘s courses.
“Autumn is probably the best time to play golf at the Lake because the summer rush is over and the courses are all in great shape,” says Paul Leahy, president of the Lake of the Ozarks Golf Council and director of golf at Tan-Tar-A Resort. “In mid-fall, especially, you have very comfortable temperatures and more affordable tee times and the foliage is typically quite stunning. It’s certainly one of my favorite times to be out on the course.”
For those looking to plan a fun and affordable fall Golf Trail Getaway at Central Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks, you can save money and time by booking a golf package with one of our Golf Trail lodging partners. You pick the courses, they’ll book your tee times, all for one discounted package rate. It’s that simple.
